Patsifans are amazing. Folks who've written say they're prepared to give up everything from cigarettes to chocolate to beer for a month and send the savings to our auction effort. I personally know someone who's gone to Vegas to see if they can buck the ole tiger and win a little something for Patsy.
What can you do to help a part of Patsy come home to Winchester? If you are someone who thinks that Patsy made a difference in the quality of your life, well, now's your chance to thank her and make a real, concrete difference in the quality of her legacy.
It's time for those of us who care about having a museum for Patsy to stop selling her out to the highest bidder.
Are you with us or against us?

November 19, 2002:
Interesting day. Profiles in History has posted all 21 Patsy items to be auctioned here. Not all of the photos are linked yet, but they're working on it at this very moment.
Of particular interest is the archive of Patsy's letters to Marie Flynt. The excerpts from these letters are amazing to read ~ it's always incredible to read Patsy's own words, isn't it? Click here for that lot.

Time to rally the troops.
When Patton addressed the troops, he said the following:
You are here today for three reasons. First, because you are here to defend your homes and your loved ones. Second, you are here for your own self respect, because you would not want to be anywhere else. Third, you are here because you are real men and all real men like to fight.
So to those devoted Patsifans who continue to visit this site, even though there is no content, I say this. You are here today for three reasons. First, because you are here to defend Patsy Cline. Second, you are here for your own self respect, because you would not want to be anywhere else. Third, you are here because you are READY TO FIGHT LIKE HELL FOR PATSY CLINE, AND ALL REAL PATSIFANS LIKE TO FIGHT FOR PATSY CLINE!!
(I wonder if Patton was Patsified?)
First let me say how much I appreciate the mails and the incredible things y'all have written... it means a great deal and is very encouraging. I've pretty much accepted that the auction is going to happen whether I like it or not, so the next decision was, what little thing could I do to make a difference FOR PATSY? She's all I care about. So I've joined forces with Winchester and a few fans in an effort to bid at the auction for something for Patsy's museum. The museum is what Hilda Hensley desperately wanted for her daughter, but no one took the time, money or effort to make it happen in that poor woman's lifetime. Was Hilda just asking for too much... is that it?
My answer is not just NO, it is HELL, NO.
That's why we are working so hard on this fundraising effort. Yes, it is sickening to think that we should have to pay money to greedy bottom feeders for things that should have been willingly given to Patsy's children or to the museum, but I have to look past that and do this for Patsy.
And even though I'll be assisting with this effort on behalf of the museum, I will continue to protest the fact that this auction is happening at all! It's a disgrace, and I wish I had a magic wand to change what has happened (and not happened) for the last 40 years, but I don't. So we intend to salvage SOME little part of Patsy out of the disgrace. We're going to try to rescue something... it feels like we're rescuing her memory somehow. If we can raise enough money to do it, then my heart will be restored and I will turn my attentions and my website to working for the museum from this day forward.
But if we don't raise enough money, if no one cares, then I can't imagine opening up this site again. How could I have a happy, peppy website, knowing that no one is interested enough in Patsy to help raise the money needed for this direly important effort? The costumes are a million times more important than this website; therefore, if there's no interest in the costumes, there most assuredly cannot be interest in this website. I would have to assume, in that case, that due to lack of interest, I could then feel free to close shop at my discretion, since I must be writing these essays only to myself and gazing at these fabulous Patsy pics all by myself and playing the Patsy Games all by myself. I would have to assume that all of those hundreds of daily visitors must surely be popping in only to pick up lyrics, not because they are interested in Patsy....? Is that it? Is that why I'm getting so many hits... non-Patsifans just popping in? And no one really loves Patsy or cares about her future?
Prove it.
This last week, we fans decided to take control. If we fans win something for Patsy, we prove to the world that a) Patsy Cline WILL be remembered and celebrated in the new millennium, and b) WE FANS are going to help plan that future. I want good Patsifans everywhere to start feeling empowered, to take control of ushering Patsy in to this new century. It is up to the fans of Patsy Cline to make 2002 the year that Patsy finally gets her due, and we fans claim her legacy into our own possession and take off in a new direction. I'm putting my faith in the fanpower to do this!
If you want to join in this brand-new day for Patsy, I urge you to make a donation to the auction fund, because THAT is where Patsy is going to rise from the ashes of that plane crash. It's not gonna happen in Nashville, no matter how much I wish it would. Nashville and the Hall of Fame have proven that they don't care. The musicians who pay lip service to Patsy don't care. "Oh, she's my greatest influence." HORSEFEATHERS. I no longer believe the lying lips that spout that phrase and don't do something to prove it.
December 19, 2002 is when it happens, my friends, if it is going to happen at all. If you are in this for any reason other than for Patsy Cline, then you WILL be left behind. There is no room for egos or users anymore. The only folks on this ship will be the people who love a girl named Virginia Hensley NOT the people who love the star Patsy Cline and want to use her for their own dastardly purpose.
I learned today some very sobering news: ALL 21 ITEMS WILL BE AUCTIONED ON DEC. 19TH! That means that apparently there won't be a second auction. THIS IS OUR LAST AND ONLY CHANCE TO GET THIS STUFF!
THIS. IS. IT.
Profiles in History will be putting the catalog online on Monday. Read it and weep a little while, then blow your nose and dab your eyes and get your checkbook out. This is probably going to be the only time in your life that you will have a chance to do something REAL for Patsy, and to be a part of this effort to ensure that her legacy will be rock solid for a thousand years!
But you know what, this really doesn't stop on Dec. 19th. This is a perpetual challenge which we are going to have to be thinking about... forever. That's the way I look at it. And we need to make sure there are others who will follow in our shoes after we're gone.
I just need to find my heart, I know it's around here someplace down in the dirt. If I can get my heart and courage back, then I could fire up that pretty "Patsy in Red" picture again someday....<sigh>
I posted this elsewhere, but it bears repeating here. The thing that angers so many of us (I can't speak for everyone) is that the judge would not have ordered this auction if certain things had been taken care of a long time ago. This auction ain't coming outta thin air. Alot of stupidity and greed is what led to this miserable moment. THAT is what angers so many of us. It was all so avoidable! People were not taking care of business. They were not taking care of Hilda's business, and they were not taking care of Patsy's business. Well guess what, there's a new sheriff in town that goes by the name of "Patsy's Fans." We're gonna definitely TCOB, baby. It can, and will, be done. Think of that last scene in "It's a Wonderful Life" and you'll know what I'm talking about. No man is a failure who has friends.
Here's looking at the dawn of a new era.

November 15, 2002:
Dear Patsifans,
If you've often wondered what you could do to repay Patsy Cline for the years of enjoyment she has given you, this may very well be your last and only chance to show you care. So many others have turned their backs at this critical moment, so it's up to us, her fans, to take care of her when her memory needs us most. Read on:
On December 19, 2002, a collection of Stage Costumes once owned and worn by legendary recording artist Patsy Cline will be auctioned in Beverly Hills, California by the prestigious company, Profiles In History.
Among the items up for bid are a Black Sequined Evening Gown (with matching Purse and Gloves) worn during Ms. Cline's history making 1962 appearance at the Mint Casino in Las Vegas, a Gold Dress with Black Lace overlay worn during a triumphant Grand Ole Opry benefit performance at New York's world famous Carnegie Hall in 1961, a pair of stage worn cowgirl boots, buckskin jacket, and a western styled vest and skirt combination.
Several of these Costumes were hand-sewn by Patsy's mother, Mrs. Hilda Hensley. The Costumes are being offered for sale by the Hensley family, with all proceeds going toward the settlement of Mrs. Hensley's estate. Mrs. Hensley had kept the Costumes for many years, as it was her dream to establish a Museum in her daughter's memory.
Patsy Cline fans from around the world now have the opportunity to help see that Mrs. Hensley's dream becomes a reality.
A group of dedicated fans has registered to bid in the Patsy Cline/Hilda Hensley auction in the hope of acquiring at least one item. Donations for the fund are now being accepted. Deadline for auction donations is December 9, 2002.
Gang, this is our hope for the future! We had been very concerned about the prospect of fans bidding against each other, but now that worry no longer exists, because the fans who want to purchase something for the museum can now all work together as one group! Apart, few of us can afford these items, but together, we CAN!
Ideas to consider:
* Contributors don't have to be
Patsifans per se. Maybe you know someone who'd like a nice tax deduction
before the end of the year... ask around.
* Why not ask for a donation to this effort as a Christmas present from a
relative (I have)!
Time to get creative, folks!
